A time before child protection was enforced in schools
Élise lives with her family in a house by the train tracks. When she’s not at school, she helps her mother with housework and takes her faithful dog Dicko for walks. Her childhood is like that of any young girl growing up in the second half of the twentieth century…well, almost. During this time, teachers were allowed to punish students by hitting them with a ruler, and were therefore sometimes victims of maltreatment. The young girl, suffering from the pain afflicted by her teacher, along with her classmates, were forced to deal with this on a daily basis.
When the school inspector pays them an unexpected visit, will Élise dare to speak up about the abuse?
